  • I’m informed by several approaches and modalities and the science and research supporting them, including approaches that are focused on thoughts, behaviour, our narratives, emotions, communication, and body awareness and wisdom. In our first couple of sessions, we’ll talk about your goals and discuss what approaches may be helpful and healing. This is also something we will revisit as we see change and as we work together.

  • Research has shown that online therapy can be very effective for various mental health issues. Studies have shown online interventions for depression to be effective and beneficial. Cognitive Behavioural Therapy has been shown to be effective for depression, and anxiety. There are many potential benefits, including accessibility, ease of scheduling, convenience, and privacy. Read more about benefits and drawbacks here: Does Online Therapy Work? on Psychology Today.

  • Many clients notice change after six to eight sessions, sometimes even fewer. Other clients find ongoing therapy to be the best option for them. This really depends on the individual and the nature of the challenges, as well as the client’s other unique factors and circumstances.

  • Appointments are scheduled through the Jane App. You can find my schedule at Hold Hope Counselling & Wellness book site.

Each online appointment is encrypted, and anonymous. They are not recorded, or stored in any way. The Jane App is compliant with The Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA).

  • I kindly ask for 48-hours’ notice so that I am able to contact other clients who are waiting for an appointment. Clients who provide less than 48-hours’ notice will be charged $50. If you miss your appointment, or give less than 24-hours’ notice, the cancellation fee of the full cost of the session will be charged.

  • Payment is received on the day of the session through Jane App by credit card. I also accept e-transfers. You can let me know which you prefer at your appointment. You will be provided with a receipt emailed through Jane that you can submit to your benefits provider.

  • Many benefits providers will cover therapy offered by Registered Clinical Counsellors. Please check with your benefits provider to ensure the details of your coverage. At this time I do not offer direct billing.

Informed Consent to Service

This Informed Consent to Service pdf outlines important information about my practice and how we will work together. Before your first session, please read the Informed Consent to Service Form. This same information will be found in the Intake and Registration Form on the Jane App, and you will be asked to sign the form digitally on Jane before we start. We will review this information together when we meet at our first session, and I am be happy to answer any questions you may have at any time.
