Perhaps, you’ve wondered if and how therapy could actually help?

Getting support through therapy can help us navigate the twists and turns of life. There are many ways to make use of therapy that can be very connecting and effective, including

  • understanding ourselves better,

  • healing from life events, circumstances, and challenges,

  • learning and sharpening different skills,

  • processing life transitions,

  • developing better relationships with ourselves and others,

  • checking in and getting support to stay on track as you move toward your goals, or

  • simply having a space of your own to speak freely.

I’ll listen, and you’ll be heard and seen without judgement. Together we’ll look for what is helpful to bring about meaningful change.

Individual Therapy

I aim to understand your world and your experience of it. In our therapeutic conversations we’ll work to increase the awareness of body sensations, emotions and values, thoughts, and actions, to bring about more understanding, healing, and ease. Together we’ll explore and process, and gain understandings of what might be needed, nurtured, or released.

I use collaborative, somatic (body-based), narrative-informed, and trauma-informed approaches in my work. I bring in mindfulness and self-compassion practices, and emphasize the use of language, imagery, and metaphors. I’ll also explore with you how tools, skills, and strategies may be of use to you.

Couples/Relationship Therapy

I aim to support you as individuals in relationship with each other. Together we focus on the relationship to look for ways to do things differently. I strive to help you to better understand the dynamics of your relationship and to find ways to strengthen it by improving connection, communication, and meaning.

I use collaborative, somatic (body-based), narrative-informed, and trauma-informed approaches, and I use Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy in my work, as well as understandings of the body and the nervous system, relational repair, and attachment styles.

Workshop Facilitator

I’m an educator and facilitator, and I present webinars and workshops on mental health and wellness topics, focusing on ways to build and protect our resilience. My approach is experiential and interactive, giving ample opportunities for reflection. Areas of special interest to me include resilience, mindfulness, effective communication, and psychological health and safety in the workplace.

I am committed to providing webinars and workshops about mental health in employment settings, and supporting the de-stigmatizing of mental health issues in the workplace.

My Therapy Process

Coming to therapy is a big decision, and it’s one that takes courage. It may feel unfamiliar to speak to someone you don’t know in this way, but rest assured, I am here to listen and to support you. As we meet, we’ll start to get to know each other and build a therapeutic relationship that is supportive and nonjudgemental in a space that is respectful and inclusive.

Before our first appointment…

We’ll get ourselves set up on the Jane App. I’ll send you some information about my practice, and ask you to fill out an intake and registration form. This will help to guide our first session, and it’ll give you all the information you need to feel comfortable enough to start our sessions together.

Follow-up sessions

I’ll keep your hopes and your goals for therapy at the forefront of my mind. Not everyone that comes to therapy has specific goals in mind, and we can talk about that, too. These are your therapy sessions and we’ll be looking for what is helpful to you. We’ll talk about different approaches available to us. You may be invited and encouraged to try out something new, or different. It could be a technique, strategy, skill, or our sessions may be about processing experiences. Perhaps it’ll be to consider different perspectives and ways of thinking.

Any questions? Might we be a good match?

A free 20-phone/video consultation gives you the opportunity to ask questions about me, my approaches, and my practice.

In our first session…

The first session is an intake session. I’ll let you know about limits to confidentiality. I’ll aim to understand a bit about who you are, and your world and your experience of it. I invite you to think about what’s important for me to know about you. It’s like getting a little snapshot of you. We’ll also talk about what brings you to therapy, and your hopes for our work together. We’ll talk about different approaches available to us, and ways we can work together that might be helpful to you.
