I’m Patricia, Nice To Meet You!

I love being a therapist. It’s an honour to work with individuals and couples in this way, to hear their stories and offer support as they move through life’s twists and turns, changes, and challenges.

I’m committed to fostering a sense of hope for meaningful change. I work to establish an inclusive, respectful environment where individuals can share their unique experiences, challenges, and stories of resilience. I strive to co-create a space for strengthening relationships within, and exploring different skills, strategies, and perspectives. I deeply value the process of reflecting on experiences and coming to understandings and insights. Together we can acknowledge lived experiences, plan for and bring about meaningful change, and envision possibilities and hope for the future.

Let me tell you a little more about myself.

I’m a woman of colour, a child of immigrants, a recent settler to Canada, and an older adult. I grew up in a Spanish-speaking, Mexican-American home in the US. Although my Spanish-language skills are not perfect, I’m able to communicate well, and I’m forever grateful to my parents for this and their many other gifts.

I’m also very grateful to live in B.C. and have been residing here for 15 years. I respectfully acknowledge that I live, work, and learn on the unceded, traditional, and ancestral lands of the Musqueam (xʷmәθkʷәy̓әm), Tsleil-Wauthuth (Sәl̓ílwәtaʔ/Selilwitulh) and Squamish (Skwxwú7mesh Úxwumixw) Territories. I’m committed to expanding my understandings of decolonization, and examining colonial and patriarchal systems and the impacts of privilege and power.

I strive to honour the lived experiences, autonomy, identity, and culture of the clients I work with. I aim to support them in strengthening their connections with themselves, their values, goals, and preferred ways of knowing and being.

I love being a life-long student. I’ve always had an interest in people, and hearing their stories. I’m interested in diverse cultures, philosophies, worldviews, traditions, and spiritual practices, and I’ve been fortunate enough to have traveled extensively.

I’m vegan, and I love animals and nature. I have a regular meditation and yoga practice. I love to walk and dance. Spending time with my partner, my cautious and curious greyhound, and my sweet and sassy cat keeps me grounded.
